How It Works
Body surface area (BSA) is calculated using the Mosteller formula: BSA = sqrt(height x weight / 3600), where height is in cm and weight in kg. BSA is used for chemotherapy dosing, burn percentage calculations, cardiac index, and renal function normalization. The average adult BSA is approximately 1.73 m2.
