How It Works
IV drip rate is calculated using the formula: (Volume in mL x Drop Factor) / (Time in minutes). The drop factor depends on the tubing: macrodrip sets are typically 10, 15, or 20 gtt/mL, while microdrip sets are 60 gtt/mL. Always double-check calculations and monitor the patient during infusion.
