How It Works
IV flow rate in mL/hr is simply the total volume divided by the infusion time in hours. This is the setting used on electronic infusion pumps. Unlike manual drip rates, pumps automatically regulate flow, but nurses must still verify the rate matches the order and monitor for complications.
